MY STORY

Hello, I’m Erika Green, the owner of Green’s Granola, a home-based micro-bakery in Perthshire. My mission is simple: to create fresh, tasty, homemade and wholesome granola, just for you.

I bake every batch of granola by hand and to order, on a tiny scale with minimal processing, using local and sustainably sourced ingredients wherever possible.

With a background in both teaching and publishing, making granola might not seem like the most obvious route for me to take. But two spells of maternity leave, plus a passion for home baking, encouraged me to experiment more in the kitchen and, eventually, to focus on starting a new business from home.

I am a bit of a granola addict so, to me, baking my own breakfast cereal didn’t seem as crazy as it sounds. I wanted to eat granola that was less sweet and more wholesome, contained generous quantities of nuts, seeds and fruit, and was not loaded with refined sugar or syrups. So, I created my own unique granola recipes and put exactly what I wanted in them. Following positive feedback from friends and family, I took a leap of faith and decided to start Green’s Granola. I had taken my first tiny steps in business.

For me, it’s important to be able to source high quality ingredients locally and/or sustainably. I use Scottish jumbo oats, which are naturally wholegrain, high in protein and rich in vitamins and minerals. I source cold pressed rapeseed oil from Summer Harvest®, located just a few miles from here. Their oil is low in saturated fat, a good source of Omega 3 and 100% cold pressed and natural. I source honey, wholefoods and freeze-dried fruit from Scottish suppliers.

As larger orders started to come in, things simply got too busy in the family kitchen. I decided to convert part of our garage into a separate kitchen, and this is where your granola is now made fresh to order. It’s a real pleasure to be able to make granola for my loyal customers and to get to know so many of you personally over the years, and I look forward to introducing more of you to my range of homemade granolas.
